Explain why a message moving along nerve pathways takes time
- Since Nerve pathways depend on the movement of positively charged ions through the nerve cell membrane. Nerve impulses are produced and then transported along the inside of the neurons of the Axon. The nerve impulses will then transfer the neurotransmitters through the synapse to the dendrites of the following neurons.
-
Messages traveling through the nerve pathways take time as they have to move the distance between the nerves from the sense organ to the brain that is being interpreted, and then the order message has to move back to the muscles that need to respond via the nerves.
