photosynthesis has two type of reactions which are the light reaction where it needs light coz it is in this rxn where electrons in chlorophyll  are stimulated by light and it jumps off to a higher energy level where it is accepted by electron acceptors, the other one is the dark reaction-this does not need light it is in this rxn where there is actual production of starch
