Activity 2

Objective: Enumerate the basic categories of the abiotic components of an ecosystem and give their importance to the biotic things.

Materials:pen and answer sheet (page 10 of this module)

Procedure:
1. Read carefully and understand the story.
2. Answer the critical thinking questions.

Critical Thinking Questions:
1. What are the three main basic categories of abiotic components of the ecosystem?
2. What are examples of the edaphic factor of the abiotic component of an ecosystem?
3. How water a climatic factor affect the life of the biotic component of the ecosystem?
4. Can you give examples of the physiographic factor of the abiotic components of the ecosystem?
5. In your own words, how abiotic factors affect the life and growth of the biotic components of the ecosystem?

Sagot :

Enumerate the basic categories of the abiotic components of an ecosystem and give their importance to the biotic things.

The two primary elements responsible for shaping the environment are biotic and abiotic. All living beings present in an ecosystem are referred to as biotic factors, while non-living components such as physical conditions (temperature, pH, humidity, salinity, sunlight, etc.) and chemical agents (different gases and mineral nutrients present in the air, water, soil, etc.) are referred to as abiotic factors. As a result, both abiotic and biotic resources influence the survival and reproduction processes.

Abiotic factors are non-living elements in the environment. This might be a chemical or physical presence. Abiotic influences are classified into three types: climatic, edaphic, and social. Humidity, sunshine, and other climate-related elements are examples of climatic factors. Because edaphic refers to soil conditions, edaphic abiotic elements include soil and land geography. Social considerations include how the land is used and the availability of water supplies in the area. Atmosphere, chemical elements, sunlight/temperature, wind, and water are the five most frequent abiotic variables.

Furthermore, both of these components are interdependent. Assume that if one of the elements is removed or altered, the consequences will be felt by the whole ecosystem. Without a doubt, abiotic variables have a direct impact on organism survival. Continue reading to learn about the roles of abiotic and biotic resources in the ecosystem.
