There are  three Major scales or C, G and F.  

In C Major scale the first note is in C (ledger line) D- E-F-G-A-B-C. There is no sharp or no flat.  

G Major scale has one sharp in the fifth line. The first note is in G that is why it is called G Major. Your clue is: one sharp and the first note is so or G is called G Major. But the note the fall on F will be called now as F-sharp or F#.

F Major scale has one flat on the third line. The first note is in F or fa that is why it is called F Major. The ton of B will be lower by 1/2 because it has a flat. the B will now be called B-flat. or ti-flat.
