Windows NT was released in July 1993.  

Windows NT, which NT stands for New Technology, was an operating system developed by Microsoft Corporation designed for client and server computer network set ups. The first version was NT 3.1 that is only supporting 32-bits applications. The latest version of Windows NT is Windows Server 2019 which was released in early October of 2018.  

Windows NT has two types: Workstation and Server types NT.  

Workstation Windows NT are versions that can be installed in ordinary workstations and can be used in any environment as client computers.  

  1. Server Windows NT are network server operating systems that supports newer and high level functions. Function are like these:
  2. Dynamic Domain Name (DNS Services), which holds details of clients computers in the network.
  3. Active Director Services (AD), which sets permissions on users regarding their file and application viewing and sharing.
  4. Internet Information Server (IIS), which supports internet and domain services in the network.
