Work and energy are related to each other. By definition in its simplest form, energy is the ability to do work. Work on the other hand is a change in position of an object due to an applied force to that particular object.We can't do work to a matter if we don't have the energy applied to do it. We can't move a thing and change its position(work) if we don't apply force(be it energy in the form of heat,light or sound) to it.
