What is the importance of the Water Cycle?
The water cycle is an enormously important part of life because it ensures water availability for all living organisms and controls the weather patterns on our planet. If it did not naturally recycle, we would run out of clean water, which is fundamental to life, if it did not naturally recycle. The majority of this water, approximately 2% of the total, is held in glaciers and ice sheets or buried underground. One percent is seen in lakes, rivers, and wetland areas, or it is transferred through the atmosphere as water vapor, clouds, and precipitation.
Rain and snowfall replenish freshwater supplies. Therefore it is essential to know when, where, and how much precipitation is falling at any one time. The movement of water is constant. A few days before today's precipitation, it may have been ocean water. And the water you witness in a river or stream could have been snow on a mountain peak. Water can be seen in the atmosphere, on land, in the ocean, and underground. It travels from place to place via the water cycle, altering as the climate changes.
How do Water cycles affect climate change?
As higher global temperatures increase the rate of evaporation worldwide, it seems likely that climate change is hastening portions of the water cycle. On average, more precipitation results from more evaporation. As the climate warms, we are already observing the effects of increased evaporation and precipitation rates, and these effects are predicted to intensify over the next century.
Greater evaporation and precipitation rates are not uniformly distributed around the earth. As the typical rain belts and desert locations vary in reaction to a changing climate, certain regions may see heavier-than-normal precipitation. In contrast, others may become prone to droughts.
Bad Effects:
- More rain and flooding. As a result of increased evaporation, more water is in the air. Therefore storms can deliver more extreme rainfall events in some regions.
- Warmer temperatures result in increased evaporation, transforming water into vapor in the air and causing drought in some world areas.
- Warmer ocean surface waters can cause hurricanes and tropical storms to become more drastic.
- Heat waves may have become more frequent in a more significant number of world regions.
Good Effects:
- Humans cannot survive and stay without water for more than a week. Water comprises 60 to 70 percent of all living stuff.
- The hydrologic cycle, sometimes known as the water cycle, distributes fresh water throughout the world's surface.
- Humans, animals, and plants are continuously supplied with fresh water through the water cycle.
