MULTIMEDIA REFLECTION
feel that my first semester in multimedia has been filled with both beneficial and unbeneficial elements. I feel that the mix of computers into art is a very positive thing. I have learned many things in Multimedia that I would have never expected to learn in a high school art class. But on the other hand there are some aspects of Multimedia that feel unneeded.
One thing I did not like during my first semester at multimedia is the fact the whole semester was focused on editing photos in Adobe Photoshop. I felt that this was a little overdone; I think that a couple of months would have been adequate. I also feel that I had a difficult time working with the pen tool. I felt that pen tool was a very challenging task and should have been taught more thoroughly. This was a personal struggle of mine from the beginning and it was often times reflected in my assignments.
Although Multimedia had its unpleasant parts, there were also many positive attributes. In my personal opinion the most beneficial aspect of Multimedia so far is the use of computers. In Multimedia I have learned things on a computer that I had never even knew existed. Everyday the never-ending technological innovations impact our life. I you are unable to utilize a basic computer you are practically useless to the future job market. So in this regard I feel that Multimedia has greatly helped me. Multimedia has also opened up my once completely dormant creativity. I am a person of very little creativity and usually struggle in many creative aspects of life. This class has allowed me to combine one my favorable subject of study with art. I enjoy learning about the lives of the people that came before me and how these people resolved their issues. This class has allowed me to express my like of military history with art; one example is the German Tiger Tank I created for my typography project. This was the first art piece that I have ever been truly proud of.
In the field of usefulness I would rate the first semester of Multimedia a five. This is because there are many useful computer skills involved in this class but there are many things that will not benefit my future life. I don not envision myself editing photos in any future job. Unlike the previous rating I cannot give a clear cut rating to the level of enjoyment I experienced during Multimedia. I felt that there was times that it was a one but there was also times when it was a ten. So in the end the class period was not awful. Something that must be addressed is the fact that my rating for the class is extremely bias. My bias is that I do not care for art and if I had complete control of my courses I would most likely not have signed up for Multimedia or any art class.
