Daedalus' personal challenges were his lack of consideration to handle his unexceptional talent when it comes to architecture and inventing things properly. Even Daedalus knows exactly what might happen to both of them if he still invents the wings because he really knows those flimsy materials he used that would be risked his son's life. Never comes his mind not to pursue invent wings but despite having hesitations before he started their journey, he still valued his pride and eagerness over their safety that leads to Icarus' death.

On the other hand, Icarus' personal challenges were never thought safeties even at once, nature comes out since he is a young man was his uncontrolled emotions.
