The novel entitled El Filibusterismo was written by the Philippine National Hero, Dr. Jose Rizal as the sequel novel for Noli Me Tangere. The second novel was dedicated to the three martyrs who were also priests, namely, Gomez, Burgoz, and Zamora. They are also known as Gomburza. While doing his writings, Rizal experience different hindrances in publishing his novels, all were written in Spanish so that it would directly have a great impact on the Spaniards.  

Rizal started writing the novel in October of the year 1887, it was during his practice in Medicine. He still continues writing during his travel in Europe that contributes to improvement in the flow of the story.
