  • Such colors can be measured with a tool  called an atomic spectroscope by vapors of atoms.  
  • The atomic spectrum of the element  is called this set of lines.  The colour, numbers and location of the  generated lines is known as the element's fingerprint.  For a particular element  they are all constant.  Within the Bohr-Model, electrons at certain distances from the  atom nucleus are defined as occupying fixed energy levels.
