Kicking a ball -
- Once the ball hits the ground and stops it transfers it's energy to the ground it hits. The total work done is a manifestation of energy being transferred from the person to the ball.
- As the Law of Conservation of Energy states, no energy is created or destroyed as a result of the process of kicking the ball.
Biking Downhill -
- When the cyclist goes downhill the potential energy is converted to kinetic, thermal, and sound energy allowing for the rider to obtain greater downward speeds.
Riding a swing -
- As the swing moves through the air, friction from the air molecules resist its movement. This changes some of the swing's kinetic energy into thermal energy, which is transferred to the environment. With less kinetic energy, the swing slows down.
